Making Sure You Have An Effective Article Marketing Strategy

So own up. How many 'Article Marketers' do you think have an effective article marketing strategy?

When I started out trying to earn money on the Internet, I really just kind of drifted into Article Marketing because to me, it seemed like a good idea.

# It was easy - I learned how to write at school and over the years I've done a fair bit of it, so how hard can it be to throw up a few words about something you know?

# It was free - if you don't have any money then how else are you going to get the word out and persuade folks to come visit your website and buy your stuff?

My whole strategy consisted of writing an article and submitting it to Ezine Articles. That was it.

Then I learned there were other article directories out there and maybe it would be a good idea if I submitted my articles there as well. So I added those to my list.

Then it turned out that you couldn't just submit the same article to all the directories because they wouldn't publish them, and apparently even if they did, those articles wouldn't show up in the search engines so nobody would find them anyway.

Of course, this meant I had to now start looking at shelling out some money for article spinners and article submitters. Hmm, that pretty much took the 'free' out of the equation. And once I started trying to actually use the damn things, the 'easy' was quick to follow.

Now yes, admittedly spinners and submitters have gotten a whole lot better since I first started. But even so, unless you put in the effort to use them properly you still are going to end up with a piece of crap. And the only places that accept crap articles are crap directories or autoblogs. Article Spinning isn't as easy as it's made out to be.

Eventually, I ended up with a strategy, a way of putting it all together so that it made sense and did the job it was supposed to do. And in the end, it turned out that once I did that, article marketing went back to being easy and free, as well as a whole lot more effective.

Do yourself a favour. Quit listening to anyone and everyone who tells you the best way to use articles is 'this way' or 'that way'. You need to develop a strategy that is simple enough that you can put it to work immediately and effective enough that you'll stick with it because you can see the results.

Now you might choose to follow my strategy or you might not. But you can't just submit articles somewhere, then maybe spin them (or not) and submit somewhere else. Or maybe you plan to use your articles to set up free sites on Weebly or Blogger? Or maybe you plan to...

Whatever and however you decide to put your articles to work, make sure you stay consistent and focused. Because that's really the only kind of strategy you need.
